Pure Love For Lady Gaga
The Pepsi Zero Sugar Super Bowl LI Halftime Show is the most-watched musical event of the year. Over 116.5 million viewers in the U.S. watched the show last year. Super Bowl LI and Halftime Show was broadcast by FOX Sports from the NRG Stadium in Houston.
During her second time performing on the Super Bowl stage on February 5 2017, Lady Gaga opened her act with a fabulous rendition of Woody Guthrie’s “This Land Is Your Land,” which has become a popular anthem at rallies protesting President Trump across the country. Standing on top of the stadium, Lady Gaga started the song backed by a fleet of 300 drones just before plummeting onto the stage. It was a beautiful start to a resounding performance that, while not overly political, was certainly a stance against discrimination.
Lady Gaga’s performance was meant to be inclusive and tailored in the “spirit of equality." “This performance is for everyone,” she said at a press conference the previous week. “I want to, more than anything, create a moment that everyone that’s watching will never forget.”
Prior to her performance, Gaga explained why she wouldn't be sharing the stage with anyone. "There will not be any guest performers tonight. I'm doing these 13 minutes solo! I dedicate every second to the love, diversity, compassion, and wild spirit of our fan base. To that kid who felt unwanted, or the grown up who remembers how hard it was to find acceptance. This is for you. It is also for those whose hearts and minds have opened to our message. Thank you for believing in us so we could be here today little monsters this is YOUR stage. And I'm gonna leave my heart on it so you never forget it. Let's do this."
But rather than focusing on her art, many harshly criticized the pop star's figure. Despite their negative efforts, fans around the world, including celebrities, took the net by storm and stood up for her. Never one to let bullies win, Lady Gaga shared an inspiring message of body positivity via her Instagram account.
Body shaming needs to end. Period.
